April 2012 / GE - Research offers Boot Booster.
Together with the Industrial Reference Platform GE-Research offers a Boot Booster for Linux and Windows.

We started with Linux and an Intel Atom 6xx (Tunnel Creek). Standard boot time was around 45 seconds. Our target is a one second boot. Today we reach 3,5 seconds but we still have some ideas how we can reach less than 1,99 s.

Next steps will be the fast boot for Windows and the support of the Tegra2 processor.
Every of our customers can participate on this boot booster. Together with the Hpe_IRP GE-Research offers a Boot Booster Package, today only for Linux but with an automatic update to Windows. The package contains a SSD Disk for die Hpe_IRP, manual and some pieces of software. With the detailed manual any developer should be able to do the modifications; nevertheless support of customers for their specific implementation is possible.

This bar graph shows the different tasks and their run time.

March 2012 / GE - Research offers now a 32 bit processor with ARM AMBA bus interface as IP in the GE-Basic Package.
A complete set of GNU based development tools is available. The deterministic architecture (all instructions execute in one cycle) and the support of conditional instructions significantly simplify the task of WCET analysis.
This processor was a development of the Technical University of Vienna. Developed over years and already used in many student and some industrial projects, this processor is an excellent license free alternative.
The SCARTS processor is small and flexible processor, which has been specifically designed for embedded systems with real-time requirements.
For SW development is a tool chain, based on the GNU Binutils/GCC/GDB, available.
Furthermore there is a port of the Red Hat Newlib, a C standard library for embedded systems.

Some of the features:
  • RISC processor

  • - 122 instructions, all single cycle
    - Most instructions conditional
  • 4 stage pipeline
  • 16-bit architecture
  • 16 registers (14 general purpose registers)
  • 16 interrupts, 16 traps
  • 4 frame pointer
  • Extensible with hardware accelerators
  • AMBA AHB Bus Interface
  • Harvard Architecture

November 2011 / PCI Express Protocol Analyzer Demo
Gleichmann Research develops an IP based PCIe Analyzer. This is the cheapest way and sometimes the only possible way to analyze a PCI Express data stream. To get a feeling about the possibilities of the tool, how easy the handling is and what you can see we offer a free download of the analysis tool and a set of data streams. Please understand that this tool is protected and can only display the sampled or simulated curves. The tool can’t measure and store data.
To get the tool please register on the page http://www.ge-research.de/registration.php After registration you will get access to our download area where you will find the Analyzer demo files.
For easy start-up we prepared the tutorial PCIe Protocol Analyzer Demo.pdf You will get this tutorial together with the demo files.

October 2011 GE-Research announces PCI Express Analyzer.
3.000 € is the excellent price for a PCIe Protocol Analyzer. Engineers can adapt an IP to their PCIe-IP in the FPGA and analyze the data stream. Cheapest version is to store the data in the internal RAM and read it into the PCfor analysis via the JTAG interface. A set of trigger and filter conditions minimize the required RAM space. At the moment the hardware adaption is available for Altera FPGA’s.

July 2011 GE-Research announce a new module for their Hpe_JTAG.
The Board Diff Application is a feature which can be used on IC boards hosting IEEE 1149.1 JTAG compliant devices to test I/O pins.
Board Diff automatically
  • find shorted I/O pins (on one device and between many devices)
  • find stuck-at-zero I/O pins, stuck-at-one I/O pins and clock pins
  • is an intuitive and highly user friendly GUI
  • offers protection from board damage by allowing the user to specify safe state for or omit altogether from testing pins that are connected to sensitive electronic modules on a board
  • has a simulation mode for users evaluation before they get physical hardware
  • then perform comparative tests against a know good board.
